Dishwasher Lower Door Seal

In a dishwasher there are two door gaskets, this is the one that runs along the bottom of the door. If your lower seal is split and you've got leaks coming out then it's time for a replacement. With this replacement, you can ensure water is contained inside your dishwasher to clean those dishes properly!

Let eSpares bring you back some reassurance that you will not end up with a flooded floor after your wash cycle.

I am a bit confused by the video showing how to fit the lower door seal. In the video it says that it is neccesary to take the door off its hinges. It appears that the old door seal (and new replacement) is a complete solid metal unit with rubber seal factory fitted to the metal unit. The person giving the demo removes the complete old unit, discards it, and fits a complete new unit. She refers to this complete unit as the door seal. I have just recieved from you a replacement lower door seal and it is simply the flexible rubber part (not the complete unit shown in the video). My questions are: 1) Do I have the right part? It doesn't look like the part fitted in your video. 2) Do I really need to remove the entire door (as shown in the video)? The part you have sent looks like it would push on (once the old rubber has been pulled off). 3) If I do have the right part, and if I do need to follow the complete procedure inthe video, should I pull the old rubber off the metal lower door seal unit and try to push the new one on to that unit before re-fitting? This step is not shown in the video. P.S. My diswasher is an Electrolux ESL 6114. It appears to be identical to the model shown in the video.

  • There is no need to break the door down. The slot where the seal is, is pressed to the inner plate of the door. I found it easier to put both ends of the seal to the slot, and go there to the center. By Reima - Kemi, Finland - 06 August 2017
  • My machine is a Zanussi but uses the same seal. I just pulled the old rubber out, cleaned up the seating face the seal closes on and pushed the new rubber into the slot in the bottom of the door. Didn't remove the door. Just make sure you push the rubber in the right way up by noting the way the old one is in the slot. By Reiver - W Midlands - 05 January 2012

The lower door seal clips into the inner door, the old one should just pull out.

Does anybody know if I have to take the internal door panel off to replace the lower door seal on the Electrolux ESL 6115? The associated video on website shows the need to remove door completely? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It may be possible to replace without removing the inner door but it can be easier to remove it completely.

  • I fitted this with the two gaps facing inside the dishwasher which was easy to do though watch out for sharp edge on the groove. No leaks. By Brian - macclesfield - 21 November 2013

Hi Whitehse93, check out this video on how to replace a dishwasher lower door seal. The model in the video is different to yours, but hopefully the process shown in the video will help you figure out why there's still a leak in your dishwasher. The only other thing I could recommend is to look for cracks or damage to the bodywork.
