  • Ensure MAINS PLUG is removed FIRST. On Hoover HDV6, remove 3 screws at back fascia, retaining chipboard top-cover. Slide out cover and then slide two guide rails off fixed bolts and set all aside. Remove timer dial on front fascia (using rubber glove or similar to get a grip!) -- straight pull. Remove top fixing screws (2) to front fascia. Fascia is now held by plastic tabs in 10mm horizontal slots. Gently nudge fascia to the right to lift from slots. Fascia then hangs by wiring, but switches and electricals can be accessed. Take note of positions for two wires on On/Off switch (there's a black side and a white side). Switch is held in position by two thin black plastic wing-type tabs that open when switch is pressed into housing. Gripping switch, use thin-blade screwdriver or similar to press wings inwards on one tab while gently pulling backwards. Press wings inwards on opposite tab, while still tugging, and switch should then come away. When inserting new switch, press in and ensure wing tabs have opened and switch is secure. Replace wires to appropriate terminals. Re-assemble in reverse order. By d4mac - Lincolnshire - 09 August 2011

Answer this question

I have a Hoover HDV6 tumble drier. the on/ off switch does not click when pushed but the machine will run if the button is held in (we find a matchstick works well) I notice you say that this is a none latching switch so does it mean that my switch is perhaps not faulty after all? Best regards Tim

  • it more than likely it's the small electronic board just inside the front up under the top , only difficulty replacing it is the screws that hold it are in the wrong way round , so you need to remove the fascias to do this . By headclansman - weymouth DORSET - 20 January 2010
