  • Sorry to disagree with the previous reply to this question but on my DC25 there is a red switch cover which operates the vacuum and next to this is a grey switch cover which engages the rotation of the brush bar. This allows the cleaner to be used on hard floors. The two switches look the same on the You-tube video. Are they the same? Both are on-off switches. By Alan Ogilvie - Northampton - 21 May 2019
  • Yes but there is also a switch for the brush bar next to the on/off switch on my DC25........so are they the same replacement part?? By EKM - Glasgow - 17 January 2019

This item switches the whole vacuum on including the brush bar, there is only 1 on/off switch on a DC25.

The original Dyson switch was discontinued but Stock Number: ES1562801 should be suitable, you may have to carefully bend the connections.

  • this micro switch only has 2 pins my dc04 has 4 By dave - nottingham - 17 April 2015

You need to open the cover for the pre-motor filter, use a flat blade to prise the cover off and both the wheels and take out the screws underneath on both sides and one where the pre-motor filter was and the casing will come off revealing the switch.

Answer this question

All of the instructions & videos that I can find appear to relate to the upright models - are there instructions available on how to access the switch on the ball type Dysons?

We do not currently have a video showing the switch replacement on this model, there are screws located into the ball that has to be removed to gain access to the switch.

We do not have access to this machine but looking at Stock Number: ES914872 it appears there may be a 'hidden' screw that hold this assembly in position. Remove this and the switch and housing should prise out.

We do not have any information other than an exploded diagram showing what parts are used on the 'Duct assembly' This does not give any further details, the cover on the attached video has in addition to the screws plastic 'claws' that hold it in place either side of the top that can be seen in the video. You have to pull the cover off these claws, try pushing to one side then the other to help this.
