This fault is likely to be a problem with the defrost circuit on frost free appliances. These are designed to run for a period of 16 hours motor run time before they pause and turn on the defrost circuit. If the heater has failed then the sensor does not see the warmth generated once the ice has been melted and does not turn the heater off but continues to try and defrost the machine. The defrost heater/s will be on the evaporator behind a cover on the back wall of the cavity or cavities depending on model.

When I defrost the fridge the water dispenser works fine for a few days. Then freezer up again. I think I need a new sensor stock No ES644124, Is this in your opinion correct

There is a common problem with some Samsung RS series American style fridge freezers that can cause excess ice build up behind the evaporator cover and lead to this problem. If you have one of these switch off and remove the lower evaporator cover and check the defrost heater is ok (should read 400 to 500 ohms approx). If this is ok and the evap radiator is clear there is ice above the radiator then order and replace ES1406833. This is a modification produced by samsung to resolve this problem.

This fridge can suffer from ice build up and has a repair kit to prevent this occurring Stock Number: ES1406833. Fully defrost before removing the cover. Fit the brackets onto the back of the upper mounting screws, replace and move the sensor to the far left of the pipework and reset codes as per the instructions. Check and replace the defrost heater if required.

Completely defrost for 48 hours with the doors open to clear any ice behind the evaporator, then check the defrost heaters are not open circuit. Although a few years old many firms should be able to repair (some for a fixed price like Repaircare) if you cannot identify the problem.

It sounds like there may be a defrost fault blocking the air duct to the fridge with ice. Before you start replacing parts try completely defrosting the appliance by emptying and turning off for 48 hours. When clear from ice you could check the defrost heater is not open circuit before switching back on.

Fully defrost the fridge by turning the whole appliance off for 48 hours with the fridge door open to ensure all ice is cleared. Then remove the evaporator cover and check the heater and cut outs for continuity. It should read between two and three hundred Ohms resistance, but if the reading is higher replace the whole assembly. There are two different heaters depending on production but our part ES1573260 is a compatible replacement for both types.

Hi there, first, I'd try switching it off at the mains and leaving it for ten to fifteen minutes. Another thing to test is the control knob and control itself (the thing the knob is attached to). If these aren't the problem it could be your PCB, this sits behind the fridge controls. Best of luck!
