If left fitted tightly the knob can corrode and seize. To remove it try using water pump pliers or a strap wrench.

We believe if you have tried to remove with a flat blade screwdriver then try using some pipe grips as this should be able to remove the cap.

This is for an SC1020 cleaner. If steam is escaping it is likely the seal has failed.

The valve cap is designed to turn freely when hot and engage when cool. If it does not lock to undo when cool either try cooling the valve with a bag of frozen pees for a few minutes or give it a sharp tap with a hammer to shock it. If this does not work you may have to destroy the cap cover to grip the tank plug itself.

It may be necessary to damage the valve head further to get it to engage with the base. Try squeezing it in a vice or drilling in to the top and using a nail to engage and lock upper and lower part. Take care to only damage the broken cap and not the tank or surround.
