  • Here’s a quick TRICK to get them opened WITHOUT TOOLS: you can use a slot on the OLD HINGE to hold the lug that fits into the door frame on the new hinge and easily prise the thing open. This is how I opened mine. JB 30/04/2018 By JB - - 30 April 2018

Fit the hinge if possible and use a ring spanner to lever the 'tongue' open and lock it in place.

Answer this question

This appears to be the correct part, however the hinge appears to be in the "locked" position, and I do not know how to open it, so that I can place the hinge in the oven caseing.

Hi Elainey, the hinge is spring activated and should open and close easily - use a blunt object to lever it open and closed.

The hinges are not supplied with screws but a worn hinge is a common reason for the door not to close fully.

If your cooker uses these type of hinges you will see a small metal clip on the 'hinge blade' that goes into the oven body. move these clips into an upright position and as the door is slowly closed the clips stop the hinge travel. at this point if you gently continue to close and lift the door it will unhook from the frame and allow removal.
