This not heating as hot as usual so taking much longer for the clothes to dry. Is this because one of the thermostats may have gone?

the most likely cause is the heater or water getting on to the heater if it is a condenser dryer. See our tumble dryer diagnosis videos for more information.

Answer this question

I purchased and fitted these but still no joy. I have a technical question. Prior to ordering, I tested the 'one shot' with an avo and it did not conduct when I pressed it whereas the 'auto reset' did. I removed the 'one shot' and shorted the wires and the elements started to glow when the dryer was switched on. I onlt tested for literally 5 seconds. Confident that the one shot was faulty, I ordered this part but having now fitted it, it does not work i.e. still blowing cold. Strangely, the piece of paper that came with the rder describes a purple spot for the auto reset (mine is a 6kg vented after aug 96) but the auto reset that arrived has no spot. According to the paper, I may have the one that should be fitted to a 6kg condenser. Any thoughts appreciated.

  • I am stuck like you in that the description supplied with the part does not describe what they sent me. As there were no fitting instructions I don't know where to look to find the original faulty part so it may be what they sent me is what I need. By Lizzy123 - Londonish - 26 August 2009
