  • Also, sharp blow with a hammer to screwdriver end may help. It did with me By Brian L - Kent. - 08 August 2015

To remove a rusted screw spray with a releasing fluid like WD40 and find a screwdriver that fits the screw as close as possible. Try to tighten slightly as the screw head will usually be less worn in this direction and may start to turn, then undo if it has moved. If the screw is damaged try gripping with side cutters or pliers across the head and twist with a jerk. If all else fails you may have to drill it out.

Most models cool the control panel with a fan that may run unless all controls are in the off position.

Answer this question

I have a Zanussi ZHF470X I suspected the element had blown so I've changed it. I can now not turn on the bottom oven, neither the LED indicator or fan come on. The top oven and grill work fine so I dont think its a problem with the feed to the unit.

Hi there. I'd advise going back and having a look to make sure that the element is fitted and wired correctly - just one slightly loose wire could be to blame.

  • Hi Dave Just got my old element out of the bin. Centers of the 2 base fixing holes are 128mm apart, the element connectors are 90mm apart. Measurement from center of base plate to center of third fixing point is 125mm. Hope this helps By Jim K - Sheringham - 02 March 2011

My oven starts then trips the house fuse, was working perfect until wife cleaned oven, now trips out with in a couple of mins, oven element working, as there is heat, I can not see any other item apart from the element, that could cause the house fuse to trip out, the top oven works perfect, oven approx three years old, gets well used daily, the element looks ok,

  • have you checked the thermostat, inside the oven top right hand side it could have been damaged during cleaning causing a short and blowing fuse. By Anonymous - hull - 31 December 2009

I have a Zanussi zce7700x and it all works apart from the fan oven, which has just stopped heating up, it still seems that the fan is blowing cold air around the oven but I just wanted to double check that it is the element I need to buy.?

  • i wouldsay you definitely needafan oven element as thishas happened to me twice.element is easy to remove and you will probably see then where it has "blown" By amandalumley - slough - 18 November 2009

AEG COMPETENCE D2160w The fan at the back of the Main Fan Oven has stopped. The oven is clean and not jammed up with goo! Is the fan malfunction usually due to the heating element ceasing? I have read your reviews and it seems that this is quite a common occurrence and they are reasonable to fit. Does the oven housing have to come out or can the element be fitted from inside via the door?

By Mike201047 - Potters Bar - 15 March 2009
  • If the fan is malfunctioning it is more than lightly that the bearings are worn. the back must come off for the fan replacement in any event as it is a seperate unit from the element. If the element has stopped working then it is much easier to fit the element by disconnecting the wiring at the back then fit the element from inside the oven. This helps save time as the wires are short which could cause problems this also ensures that you connect the wires to the correct contact points. By Pongo1 - Surrey - 06 April 2009
