Test the heater with a multimeter as that is the most likely part to trip the electrics.

  • I agree with Chris, I though I needed new brushes as the drum was slow to turn, on inspection found it was an induction motor and decided to try and replace the capacitor first. It took all of 2 minutes to replace and test, dryer is now good as new! By Nicola - - 05 January 2016

This motor is an induction motor and does not have brushes. A common problem with this type of motor is the failure of the capacitor which results in low motor torque and not turning.

  • The 2 bearings in the motor are 6001 series 12x28x8mm (metal shielded) and cost approx. £2 each delivered on ebay. On mine the inner race of one had rotated on the shaft wearing down the 25.4mm spacer by about 0.8mm. This wear can be accommodated by a number of 0.2mm or 0.3mm M12 (12mm hole) spacers. I fitted a new bearing, with bearing adhesive and spaced correctly. Total cost £4.10. It will give it a few more months of use. However, my opinion is that the original motor is poorly engineered ie cheaply made with poor tolerances. The two halves of the bearing housings are pressed steel held together by 4 self-tapping screws. By pjc - uk - 01 January 2019

There are no motor bearings available from the dryer manufacturer, If these are needed then replace the motor.
