- Could be a bearing breaking up. This was the fault on my Flymo, £2.04 for a new bearing which took around 15 mins in total to fit, reassemble and test the mower.

It may smoke due to a faulty motor or if the belt is slipping due to a seized pulley.

The motor is supplied with brushes and motor bearings fitted to the motor itself and not any additional bearings or bushes.
