Fridge/Freezer is older model RF68P and is not getting down past -15deg

It is not clear from the exploded diagram but it looks like your appliance only has one thermostat in the fridge. If this is the case and the ambient temperature drops below 50f then the fridge does not need to work as hard and the freezer may defrost. Moving to a warmer environment (kitchen from utility?) is likely to improve this.

The fridge is still maintaining a constant 4 degree temperature and you can feel the cold air as you open it but the light does not work and the compressor does not run. All bulbs, fuses checked and replaced to no avail. a suggestion was a defective thermostate, is this the case?

The compressor must be working or the temperature would increase. Although the light is switched through the thermostat to turn it off when switched off it is more likely for the problem to be the door switch.

Fridge runs all the time irrespective of thermostat setting. Door seals OK. Is there a stuck relay somewhere?

By John M - Newport South Wales - 03 July 2012
  • I had the same problem, the thermostat is on continuously. You can check it with the assistance of an Ohmeter and Freezer. Put the sensor lead into a freezer and check the reading across the live and switch terminals if it is work it should read infinity ie open circuit By Auggie - Surrey - 12 May 2013
