I have rung an engineer and expalined that even thought the top oven/grill has not been switched on, it always remains warm. 1 Answer
I was told that I needed a new grill selector switch and that the job would cost me approx. £180. Is this too much ?

Well...how much you're charged for a repair really depends on where you live....things always seem much more expensive where we're at in London! Of course we try to promote 'fix it yourself' to our customers but we know that this isn't possible for all jobs. Even if you do pay someone else to fix an appliance for you we would recommend that you supply the parts. Not all service people, but some, will charge you a mark up on parts ordered. It's not necessary to incur that expense when it's just as easy for you to do it yourself. In terms of £180 being a fair price for this repair - the only way to truly know is to call at least 3 repair people and get them to quote on the job based on the fact that you'll be supplying your own spares and your location. Although we preach moneysaving we'd advise when going down the tradesperson route to consider recommendation as well as price in your decision. Sometimes it's worth going with a repair person who comes recommended as reliable and knows their stuff even if they're not the cheapest option.
