My oven light went out, I bought an EVEREADY bulb, I am a young OAP so I had to ask a friend who is an electrician to replace the blown bulb, this he did, since then I have had four bulbs replaced, each bulb only lasting between 2 and five minutes, I took the instruction book for the cooker to the shop so I know I did get the right bulb, can you give me any reason for this occurrence, it does not affect the oven that still works.

It should not be possible for the oven to cause this problem if the bulb is lit constantly and not arcing as the bulb should be the same voltage as the supply to the cooker. The most likely cause is either sub standard or incorrect rated bulbs or the bulb filament coils getting twisted in transport shorting out and causing the rest of the filament to burn out.
