We have a Neff U1421SGB/02 Double Oven, we are experiencing problems with the grill/top oven .. It is turning off after being on for 10 mins+ and the front top panel is getting hot, so much that the knobs are too hot to touch. We are assuming the cooling fan needs replacing, is this part suitable? And is it a job that can be done by yourself easily?

Ok so the stat is working, The cooling fan may not kick in untill the cavity is warm (saying that my single oven Neff starts the fan when the selector is moved from 'off'). The fan blows a light air flow across the top of the oven and the controls (you can feel on the back of your hand). It may not 'cool' the controls a great deal. If the fan is working and not noisy it is not likely to be faulty but may be the door seal or hinges that are allowing heat to escape. To replace the fan see a similar appliance in our video: http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/1/1570/how-to-replace-an-oven-cooling-fan---gorenje
- Hi, many thanks for your advice, as advised we have tested by turning on grill oven to lowest setting and the thermostat appears to be working. If this is so is it likely to be the cooling fan?

This sounds like the oven is overheating causing it to cut out. Turn the oven onto its lowest setting. if it continues heating to a high temperature and the thermostat is not controlling the heat suspect the thermostat on that oven.

On two wire AC motors it does not matter which way around the two power connections are as the motor can only run in one direction.
The Bosch oven squeals during cooking, and when finally gets turned off squeals alot during cool down, very irrating 1 Answer

If the cooling fan is running when warm and not excessively noisy then replacing it is not going to improve this much. You may have an installation issue. if the oven does not have free air behind it it cannot draw the air through to cool it.
Only have a problem when I use the main oven. My house trip switch is taken out 2min after putting on main oven. Doesn't happen immediatly oven is turned on. Thought this could be the culprit.

Hi qwerty, one of the electrical components in the oven is causing a power surge and therefore causing the fuse to trip. It could be the motor, the element, the thermostat, or the wiring connecting the components. What you'll need to do is test each component with a multimeter to find the culprit. Please be safe though! Disconnect it from the mains straight away and don't connect again until it's fixed. If you're still stuck, an electrician will be your best bet. Good luck!
