- In fact, it isn't a voltage kick provided by the capacitor. The capacitor, which stays in circuit all the time in this type of motor, creates a forward phase shift in one of the two windings of the motor, and this provides the necessary difference in phase to cause the rotor to rotate in the correct direction.
- Yes - Absolutely All motors need the kick received from the voltage lift provided by a capacitor. Once running, electro-magnetism does the job!

This is an AC capacitor and can be connected in either way without damage as it is on an AC supply.

Unfortunately parts do not come with fitting instructions.
Can you tell me if this capacitor is suitabble for my Karcher washer K3.99M serial number 309084. The one fitted is 20mdf 500VACW measuring approx 3" X 1.5" Regards Vic Chrimes
