Chris, our dishwasher is about 9 years old, it operates cycles but will not stop and the water will not heat, I have checked the heater which reads 29 ohms and appears to be ok. The temperature sensor reads open circuit, assume this is incorrect. 1 Answer
It is a Zanussi DE4744 dishwasher Can you confirm that the sensor should read a resistance value Regards Ian

We believe this is a simple thermostat and should measure low resistance (0 ohms) until it opens when hot.
Hi, I have had the above for a long while (approx10yrs) recently not heating water but works as usual, could you advise the likelihood of it needing the thermostat or heating element or other? And your common sense suggestion of to repair or replace due to its age? Also bearing in mind I'm only DIY level, Any advice would be gratefully appreciated Many Thanks Fidsta

The Two common problems are a failed heater or this sensing element which we believe is a thermostat, both can be tested with a meter for continuity. Dishwashers are very reliable and providing in good condition may continue for many years after a repair.
