Dishwasher Drain Pump
The purpose of the drain pump is to discharge wastewater from the drum out of the dishwasher. Drain pumps can often get blocked and it is advised that you clean you pump out on a regular basis. If your dishwasher isn't draining properly, then this drain pump may just be the part you need to sort out your unruly dishwasher once and for all.

But its not fully draining, there's water left in the bottom 2-3" deep. Do I need a new pump or could it be something else ?

Check for a blockage in the pump chamber that may be stopping it from draining, if ok then suspect the pump. Also check out our video to help diagnose the problem. www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0W9pzBZ-DI
My dishwasher is not yet 3 yrs old and this same thing has gone wrong twice already but Hoover don't want to know. It goes so far through any cycle then flashes up error 8 and won't complete cycle. Dishes are semi-clean tho there is no water left in machine. Help!!

my dishwasher goes through the set programme until it gets to drain, the timer clicks through as normal and at the end of the cycle there is still water in the bottom would this part be the problem. the pump its self makes a noise but does not pump the water, when you put the draiage pipe into a bucket the water trickles through. there is no blockage in the draiage system. many thanks in advance......
