Washing Machine/Dishwasher Cold Water Single Inlet Solenoid Valve
If you are experiencing an issue with your washing machine or dishwasher not filling with water, it could be due to a faulty solenoid valve. The solenoid valve in your appliance is an electrical component that will open when current is applied to it - allowing the machine to fill with water from your household water supply.

Hello there up the Rossies. It could be that either one of the other two valves is the cause - the ones on the end of the inlet hoses at the back of the machine. If the hoses are plumbed in to the kitchen sink, try turning your taps on and off to see if this has an effect on water entering the machine. If the leak stops happening while the taps are on, you'll need to replace the valve. The other thing that could be causing this is dirty or blocked filters inside the valves. Give all the filters a clean and get rid of any residue. Hopefully this'll sort it. Best of luck.

The valve will work equally well on hot or cold water. The washing machine must have a cold water supply for rinsing.
Recently had to change our dishwasher lock (integrated Hotpoint BFI 680) but now when switching the dishwasher on, it will start normally and then give a short beep as though it's finished. When opening it, were getting flash lights which according to the manual is a clogged filter alarm but at other times the Water load solenoid valve. Dishwasher has only worked fully about 3 times without problems since changing the lock. We've cleaned the filter and don't think there's anything blocking it. Is it likely to be a filter or solenoid problem or could we have knocked a wire loose when changing the lock?

It is not likely that you have knocked the wiring but it is worth checking the connectors are fitted onto the control board properly. Check the spray arms are not blocked with rice or food particles.
It's a Hotpoint First Edition 1200 spin washer. There doesn't seem to be any power to it at all. It was working ok but then it stopped, I set it off again and it stayed on for ages, eventually I had to stop it manually. The water was red hot. The door will open even with water still in it but other than that nothing is working. Anyone got any ideas what it could be? I'd be grateful for any advice.
- Likely to be the main programmer but no way to prove 100% without specialist test gear .If the machine is over 5 years old , consider a new machine or ask for an estimate from an authorised repairer . Good luck !
