Check any tension pulley for play and ensure the motor spindle and pulley surface is clean and undamaged.

Answer this question

Model no TCUD97B6GMUK Hotpoint ultima I've followed your tutorial which is great but I still cannot fit the ribbed belt over the tension pulley there is not much stretch in the belt. It's the correct belt I've double checked. Thanks in advance Claire

Fitting the belt takes a lot of force and even engineers can struggle. If you have a broken belt try looping it behind the new belt and using it to pull and stretch onto the pulley. We have now updated the video to one more similar.
