If you disconnect a faulty element the fridge will usually start and run for several hours until the defrost cycle.
- How do I know its faulty, fridge/freezer is shorting our the electrics for the whole house.

We do not have this level of information available from the manufacturers but looking at the evaporator it does not look like it is fixed directly to it as on many freezers. Therefore it is likely it will be clipped onto a aluminium tray surrounding the evaporator. If you are unsure you can carry out this repair defrost the freezer and remove the evaporator covers to asses the repair and confirm the heater is faulty. You can then decide if you wish to carry it out yourself or contact another repair agent.
