Cooker Thermocouple

If the thermocouple for your cooker is in need of being replaced then perhaps this genuine Smeg spare is of interest to you.

The thermocouple measures heat and sends an electrical pulse that controls the gas valve. With the help of eSpares and our replacement thermocouple, you will soon be back with a gas ring that lights up with no problem.

You need to check the burner jet as they can block up stopping the gas from coming through, if it is ok then it is likely the valve is failing and you would need a Gas safe technician to test it.

Answer this question

It seems to light then immediately you take away your hand of the ignition switch it goes out.

The thermocouple may not be holding the gas, please be aware any gas carrying component has to be replaced by a qualified gas safe technician.

Hi I have smeg duel fuel cooker model suk61 mbl8. The gas hob lights but does not stay on. I have cleaned it and it still doesn't work. Looking on the net it says it's the thermocouple. Do you have any ideas and is a new one easy to fix? Also the digital time clock is faulty and only has some of the lighting display lite. Can you get this part? Many thanks Rob

The gas problem is likely to be the thermocouple.
