The upper feed tube is connected to the spray arm and its purpose is to deliver water to the spray arm, which is then distributed to the spray arm. the spray arm is broken - how can it be taken out and replace?

We believe the pipe can be carefully levered forward off the mounting bracket on the rear panel. It then can be lifted or prised off the supply pipe from the motor on the base of the cavity.
