I am changing the thermostat on an Ikea fridge freezer model CB304W (apparently the same as CB651) with the sevice number as 853976215051. 1 Answer
The thermostat housing doesn not have any fixings such as screws so the tempreture control knob appears to be the only fixture. I am however unable to take the temperature knob off to be able to remove the thermostat housing from the fridge wall.

If you look at the third image of the knob Stock Number: ES1436641 you will see it has hooked prongs that will try and hold it in place. Use a screwdriver to carefully prise off.
Thanks for the answer. However, can I be sure that the problem is the thermostat?

This thermostat will only turn on if the temperature is above above freezing and 5C or above. Check the temperature inside the fridge. if it is around 3 or 4C then the thermostat does not need to turn on. If it is significantly above this temperature and the motor is not trying to run then it suggests the thermostat may be faulty. We cannot give more accurate information than this so if you still are unsure then you may consider on this occasion it may be better to contact a repair agent as we can only guide you.
This is the model number for my TECNIK fridge freezer TKR6610/2 (853975515104) - . Does the thermostat also also control the freezer as I cannot find a separate control for the freezer? thank you. 1 Answer

Many fridge-freezers use a thermostat in the fridge only. relying on the fact that the fridge is opened more often and the appliance should be in a warm kitchen. When the fridge door is opened the warmth from the kitchen enters and turns on the compressor and 205 of the 'cold' goes into the fridge whilst 80% goes to the freezer. As a result the fridge cools but the freezer freezes. If the appliance is in a cold environment below 50F 10C then the fridge may not need to come on and the freezer will defrost, this is not a fault and just needs to be in a warmer area.
