Our Hotpoint DU2549BL grill cuts out completely after varying amounts of time, when this happens the top oven will also not work. Leaving for a short time will generally get it working again.Would this likely be an element or a switch/regulator issue?

The most likely problem would be the thermostat so start there but also check for any signs of damage or burning to the element and switches.
