Has something else caused the module to blow up?

Washing machine fuse had blown.Upon replacing fuse and plugging into mains the fuse blew as a pop was heard.Took back off machine and i could see soot around module.when i took module out(not easy)the back of module is sooty and circuit board has item blown apart.

    The new module is supplied from Hotpoint unprogrammed and will not work without a smart card and card reader to programme it. This will add a further £120 to this repair on top of the cost of the module even if there is no other fault. Alternatively Repaircare do a fixed price repair of just over £100 parts and Labour including programming.
