The information is very limited on the Whirlpool site but there appears to be many metal 'clamp pieces' that are knocked onto the joint area of the drum to hold front and back together. I have done a similar repair where you prise these off with a large flat blade screwdriver. Be careful as they can spring off at some speed so wear safety glasses. Then push drum halves together and 'tap' the clips on with a small hammer.
