Location of switch?

Does this switch govern the operation of the drain pump? If so, where exactly is it situated? I have fitted a new pump to my Hotpoint WMA46P and cleared any blockages but the only way the machine will drain in a cycle is if I massage the sump hose: this seems to squeeze the water towards the pump and the machine then drains. Do I need this switch as well as the pump?

The pressure switch is usually mounted at the top right of the machine and is responsible for controlling the fill levels and prevent spinning until the machine has drained of water but does not turn the pump on unless the machine has overfilled.
