Burning smell but motor works, could this be the clutch?
Hi, my trusty DC07 all floors when turned on started but then had a very pungent burning smell and after about 7 secs started to sound as if it was powering down. Initially I thought it was the motor, but now I think it could be the clutch. I have checked the belts and both are complete, but there is a lot of black around the spindle of the main belt perhaps indicating the clutch needs to be replaced? I suppose I'm hoping that it is the clutch which is easier for me to replace rather than the motor? Would the machine start at all if the motor had gone?
