Using a 3-core mains cable in a double insulated appliance such as the NT301
AS the Karcher NT301 is a Double Insulated appliance and, as such doesn't need a 3-core mains lead, how can this cable be compatible with it? Having worked in the repair trade, admittedly mainly repairing radio and audio equipment for over 40 years, I've always understood that it is not good practice to cut off or otherwise insulate the earth lead in a 3-core cable, and fit this to a double insulated appliance, which might then fail a PAT test. Most Vacuum cleaners, including two I own, are double insulated and thus fitted with two-core mains leads by their manufacturers.

Double insulated (Class 2) products do not have any exposed metalwork that is not insulated from the electrics inside and do not need 3 core cable. If the earth connector is trimmed off and insulated it should be suitable to use this and will not cause problems when performing a 'PAT' test. Alternatively use a 2 core cable like Stock Number: ES1673453
Universal Vacuum Cleaner Mains Cable Stock Number: ES1673454
Universal mains cable suitable for most vacuum cleaners matching the specifications
