how can you tell its the ignition switch faulty

    In order to 'take' 2400 watts from a 240 volt supply it would need a current of 10 amps, this equates to a expected resistance of around 24 ohms.

    Turn off the appliance and join the wires. if the ignition starts when power is returned the switch is faulty.
