I bought the cheap one and it only lasted 2 yrs - but there are complaints on this page that the expensive one only lasted 18 months
I bought the cheap generic version (ES1019709) and it lasted 2 yrs after fitting .... it seems that its irrelevant if you buy the manufacturers expensive part, or the cheaper generic one. A little disappointing as the original part lasted ten or more years (with regular usage). So after reading 3 mentions of this manufacturers part failing inside 18 months on this page, so I decided to buy two cheap ones at one go. Shame that I can't buy a part that won't last very long .... espares might ask suppliers about this issue. Or at least answer the questions being raised?

This is a common problem with most manufacturers and occurs in original or pattern elements across most manufacturers with fan element, for this reason we suggest the following advice. To help prevent damage to a fan element turn the thermostat down to minimum for thirty seconds before switching off. Switching straight off stopping the circulation fan immediately when the element is hot can cause overheating and damage the element as the circulating air stops.
