if the compressor is not running , and the freezer is not working , could it be the capacitor that needs replacing?

Switch off for 5 minutes and then listen at the back when switching on for a quiet 'click' after 3 seconds. if this re occurs twice every minute or so it is a sign of the compressor trying to start and tripping out. This would likely to require a new compressor and not usually be due to a failed capacitor.
