Do I need a thermostat
Sir, I have a Smeg fridge freezer model number; s30STAP/1. The problem that I have is that the top of the fridge section freezes almost anything placed near the rear of the fridge, freezes solid whilst the bottom of the fridge is always wet. The door seals ok, so could the reason be a faulty thermostat? Thank you. J Murray.

Chris at eSpares says...
The fact that products near the top freeze suggests the fridge is running 'flat out' trying to maintain the temperature throughout the cavity but if in a warm environment and regularly disturbed the warm air entering is not given the chance to cool enough. A faulty thermostat would not allow the fridge to cool at the top. This problem is particularly common with larger 'larder' type fridges especially if they do not have a an and is likely to resolve when it gets cooler. Water in the bottom is either due to food touching the back wall and wicking the water onto the shelves or a blocked drain on a wet wall see our video: How to stop water collecting in your fridge http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/2/1152/how-to-stop-water-collecting-in-your-fridge
