water is not draining from the machine is this the part i need & is it compatible with model hoover HNL842-80

there's a possibility of something being stuck in your drain pipe or pump check to see if there is ant blockage. If you find that nothing is causing the drain pipe or pump to be blocked then yes you will require a new pump. The drain pump above maybe suitable for your model, we recommend you check the specifications in the description.
