Whirlpool Dishwasher Error Code F13
If you have come to rely on your dishwasher to do all the hard work for you after meal times, it will no doubt be of some inconvenience to you if you now find that it is not working as it should.
If your dishwasher is beaming at you with an F13 error code on the control panel display, it is likely to be a fault with the water softener or the hardness of the water in the machine.
With our knowledge and a little bit of DIY skill from you, it could be that you are soon able to diagnose the fault and possibly restore your dishwasher's performance back to full working order.
Water Hardness Sensor
To perform correctly the dishwasher will often 'soften' the water by passing it through a container filled with salt. The salt level within the container is monitored by a float that will activate a switch at the point when salt needs adding.
To check if the water hardness sensor is faulty, follow the below steps to help diagnose the possible error you are being faced with.
Safety First! Please make sure that you have disconnected the appliance from the mains before beginning any repair.
- Check if the softener container is correctly filled with dishwasher salt and if the 'add salt’ light goes off or not.
- Disconnect and remove the base and check the sensor control PCB on the softener body. If the float is moving correctly replace the sensor PCB if the problem is not resolved.
If the water softener is damaged then a replacement will be required. For a replacement, you can see our range of dishwasher spares and we can hopefully get your appliance back to doing what it was originally intended for - cleaning the dishes so you don't have to!
