Dishwasher Won’t Start

Mains Filter
If the dishwasher is blowing fuses one of the common reasons which may lead to this problem is a faulty mains filter.
The mains filters is a device that is fitted with many appliances, including dishwashers, and it is designed to stop interference from getting into the mains circuit disturbing other equipment.
To check the mains filter for faults follow the procedure below:
Safety First! Before starting any repair, please ensure that you have disconnected the appliance from the mains.
- Look for bulges, burn marks or liquid at the bottom of the mains filter (also known as the interference suppressor).
- Test the mains filter for faults by using a multimeter, you will be looking at a reading lower than 3 Ohms - see our guide to using a multimeter.

PCB
The printed circuit board works as the brain of an appliance - so as you can probably imagine, it is an essential component in making your machine function correctly.
The problem with PCB's that might be experiencing issues is that unless there are actual visual indications of damage, confirming the fault with it can be rather difficult. It could also be other components that may be causing the board to fail.
However, if a replacement board is required you’ll need to remove the old one:
Safety First! Please ensure that you have disconnected the appliance from the mains before starting any repair.
- To gain access to the PCB on most models you will first need to remove the door outer panel.
- Drop the door down and you’ll see a set of screws which go through the inner panel.
- Remove the screws from the control panel and the PCB can be located behind.
- Check for any signs of visible damage and replace if required.
