How to use Washing Machine and Tumble Dryer Stacking Kits

Hi I'm Mat from eSpares, in this video I'll be showing you how to use a universal stacking kit for washing machines and tumble dryers.

Stacking kits are a great way to save space in your home, but they won't work for all appliances.

Safety first: Always unplug the appliance before carrying out any work.

At eSpares we can supply a number of genuine stacking kits made by the manufacturers.

In the instance that your washing machine and tumble dryer are made by the same manufacturer these are designed to lock the appliances in place.

However many people have appliances made by two different manufacturers.

If that's the case then a universal stacking kit may be suitable for you.

But there are a couple of things you should look out for before purchasing a universal stacking kit as they won't work for all appliances.

The first thing is rounded edges on the lower machine which will usually be the washing machine as it's the heavier of the two.

If you have rounded edges such as this model at the front or rounded edges at the side whilst you can put the stacking kit into place it won't lock firmly into place.

And it won't spread the weight of the tumble dryer evenly over the top.

So if your machine has much squarer edges such as this one the stacking kit will lock nicely into place and will also spread the weight of the tumble dryer evenly over the top as long as both machines are 60 centimetres wide.

Another things to look out for on this stacking kit, we have a lip of four centimetres.

That's two centimetres at the top of the washing machine or the lower appliance and two centimetres at the bottom of the tumble dryer or higher appliance.

We fitted a stacking kit to the bottom of this tumble dryer to highlight if you have a drawer flap at the bottom of your tumble dryer and you try to open to access that flap you won't be able to because of the stacking kit.

Therefore this stacking kit is not suitable for this tumble dryer.

However this appliance has a two centimetre clearance at the bottom so the flap can be opened and accessed.

To fit the dryer on top simply unscrew the feet from the bottom of the tumble dryer and fit it into place.

Some universal stacking kits will also come with a ratchet strap to help lock the machines together.

So there we have it, a universal stacking kit for washing machines and tumble dryers.
