Depending on the layout of your kitchen or utility area, it might be more convenient for the door on your front loading dryer to swing open and closed from the other side. Provided you have enough room to carry out the work and another pair of helping hands this is a very easy fix it to do.
This video shows an example on how to remove or replace the part on a typical machine, some models may be different but the procedure should be similar.
What You Will Need:
Step 1 - Safety Advice
Safety First! Please ensure that you have disconnected the appliance from the mains before starting any repair.
Step 2 - Reversing The Door Catch
Start off by removing the catch and placing it on the other side of the dryer and vice versa with the catch cover. So unscrew the catch which should just pop out once the screws removed, then go onto unscrewing the catch cover on the opposite side.
Replace the catch cover and catch on either sides of the machine.
Step 3 - Swapping Latch and Latch Cover Over
Now to do the same thing on the door with the latch and the latch cover. Replace the latch to the opposite side it was fitted to and then swap the position of the catch and latch.
Step 4 - Reversing The Door
Time to unhinge the door and re-hinge it back on the other side. On this part you’ll need a friend to hold the door while you unscrew the hinges. Fit the top hinge into the dryer followed by the bottom hinge to secure it in place.
And there you go, the door now opens and closes from the other side.
Great Job! You have successfully reversed the door on your tumble dryer, complimenting your room layout perfectly.
