By making sure your dishwasher filters are clean and free from food particles, you can be assured your dishwasher will be working to its full potential.
The function of a dishwasher filter is to stop all manner of food particles from getting into the inner mechanics of your dishwasher and causing damage. Keeping your filter in good condition and cleaning it regularly will ensure you're only left with sparkling dishes.
If your dishwasher filter has become damaged or worn then it will need to be replaced. Rory from eSpares will explain how easy it is.
This video shows an example on how to remove or replace the part on a typical machine, some models may be different but the procedure should be similar.
What You Will Need:
Step 1 - Safety Advice
Safety First! Please ensure that you have disconnected the appliance from the mains before starting any repair.
Step 2 - Find The Correct Filter For Your Model
Generally speaking, dishwasher filters come in multiple layers and the one in this video is three-layered. There are usually two layers on the inner part of the filter followed by an outer layer. The filter is typically sold as a complete unit, so unfortunately you can’t purchase individual parts separately.
Step 3 - Remove And Change The Filter
To remove the faulty filter first take out the lower dishwasher basket. Then you can twist the old one out, remove the metal drain mesh (give it a good clean if needed) and remove the rest of the filter.
You should be able to place the new filter in, followed by the metal filter plate and then twist and secure the new filter into place.
