If your washing machine drain hose is leaking, split, torn or damaged, your washing machine won't be able to drain or function properly. As such, the drain hose will need to be replaced to get your appliance working properly again. Read on for our full step by step guide on how to replace the drain hose on a Bosch washing machine so you can carry out this repair yourself.

How do I know my drain hose is faulty?
If you notice that your washing machine is leaking, you should thoroughly inspect your drain hose for damage or blockages. Pull the machine out to check the drain hose at the back of the appliance, then look for any signs of damage. If you find a blockage is the cause of the issue, simply unblocking it should do the trick. If you find any damage such as rips or tears to the hose, however, the hose will need to be replaced. Likewise, you should also check the hose connectors, as these can also leak if they have become worn or damaged. In the case of damaged or faulty hose connectors, the drain hose itself will need to be replaced.
How to Replace the Drain Hose on a Bosch Washing Machine

What you will need
Finding the model number
To make sure you purchase the correct replacement drain hose, you'll need to find your washing machine's model number and details. These can usually be found on either the inside of the washing machine door or on the removable kickplate panel at the bottom of the appliance. If you can't find it here, check the side or the back of your washing machine. The model number usually consists of a combination of letters and numbers and could also include characters such as a dash (-) or a slash (/).
Step 1: Remove the back panel
Begin by turning your washing machine around and removing the back panel. You can do this by unscrewing the single Torx head screw with a Torx head screwdriver. Make sure you hold onto the panel as you do this, as it will drop down once the screw has been removed. After you have removed the screw, simply lift the panel out of the way and set it aside.
Step 2: Remove the drain hose clips
The drain hose enters the washing machine near the top corner at the back of the appliance and is connected by three clips. First, disconnect the clip around the hose where it enters the washing machine. You can do this by simply pulling it out with your fingers or by prising it free with a flathead screwdriver.
Then, disconnect the two small lower clips which are positioned along the edge of the washing machine, with one above the other. You can disconnect them by pushing them through and into the appliance with your fingers.
Before moving on to the next step, mark the hose with a marker pen so you can remember how much goes inside the washing machine.
Step 3: Remove the filter cover and kickplate
Lay the washing machine on its back, taking extra care as you do this. Then unclip the filter cover from the bottom right corner at the front of the appliance.
Next, you will need to remove the kickplate, which is the long panel at the bottom of the appliance. To do this, unscrew the single Torx head screw with your Torx head screwdriver.
As you are removing the kickplate, disconnect the emergency drain hose and push it back through the kickplate.
Step 4: Remove the pump chamber
You will then need to remove the pump chamber, which can be seen in the corner from which you removed the filter cover. To remove it, unscrew the lone screw with your Torx head screwdriver. Then tilt the pump chamber back to release it.
Pull the pump chamber outwards so you can access the drain hose connected to it.
Step 5: Disconnect the drain hose from the pump chamber
The drain hose may still contain water, so you should lay down a towel before disconnecting it from the pump chamber. Then use a pair of pliers to undo the jubilee clip and disconnect the drain hose from the pump chamber.
Step 6: Remove the drain hose
Carefully standing the washing machine back up, remove the old drain hose by pulling it out from the back of the appliance.
Once the old drain hose has been removed, remove the clips by prising them apart. Then connect them to the new replacement hose.
Step 7: Copy the hose marking
Lay your old drain hose and your new drain hose next to each other. Then copy the marker you made on the old hose onto the same place on the new hose.
Step 8: Insert the new hose
Feed the new hose into the back of the machine, feeding it through up to the black mark you just made.
Then refit the first clip you removed, making sure the little lip slots into the bottom of the small opening. Then pinch the top to fully slot it into place.
Then reposition the other two clips, slotting them into the two holes from the inside of the washing machine. Be careful not to cut yourself on any sharp edges as you do this.
Step 9: Refit the back panel
To refit the back panel, simply screw it back into place with the Torx head screw you removed earlier.
Step 10: Reconnect the drain hose to the pump chamber
Carefully lay the machine onto its back one more time and reconnect the drain hose to the pump chamber.
Then, using your pliers, reposition the jubilee clip over the end of the hose to secure it in place on the pump chamber.
Step 11: Refit the pump chamber
Refit the pump chamber into the front of the cabinet, making sure the black lip at the top is positioned on the outside.
Then refit the screw your removed earlier with your Torx head screwdriver to secure the pump chamber in place.
Step 12: Refit the kickplate and filter cover
Push the emergency drain hose back through the kickplate and slot it back into place.
Then you can start refitting the kickplate. First, slot the two clips at the kickplate's left side into place on the cabinet.
Before you slot the right side into place, make sure you lift up the emergency door release tab and push it through. This is the small black tab at the top right corner of the kickplate.
Then slot the two clips on the right side of the kickplate into position on the cabinet.
Then secure the kickplate by returning the Torx head screw you removed earlier.
Finally, refit the filter cover by slotting it into place in the bottom right corner. Once you've done this, you can lift the machine upright again and reconnect it to the mains.
