Oven time the front panel on your oven may begin to discolour, become scuffed or scratched - when this happens it is recommended to replace the panel instead of replacing the appliance.
Here we guide you to replacing the panel for a Zanussi cooker - however the process should be very similar to other brands of ovens therefore regardless of owning a Bosch, Kenwood or any other brand this guide should be able to give you some in-sight to removing and replacing a damaged fascia panel.
This video shows an example on how to remove or replace the part on a typical machine, some models may be different but the procedure should be similar.
What You Will Need:
Step 1 - Safety Advice
Safety First! Please make sure that you have disconnected the appliance from the mains before beginning any repair.
Step 2 - Removing the Cooker
To begin you may need to move the oven to an open space. Before giving the oven a good tug check to see if it is held in place with a screw - if so this will need to removed.
When lifting an oven out be careful as you do not want the flex to come off the back of the oven, once out slowly place it on the floor.
Step 3 - Accessing the Back of The Control Panel
With the oven in an open space you can now get to work...removing the top panel is next, this is usually held in place with 4 screws - undo these. Different manufacturers may use different types of screws therefore check before you begin that you have the correct screwdriver or bits.
Step 4 - Remove the Knobs, Controls and Lamps
With the top panel out of the way you will now be able to access the back of the control panel. To allow you to remove the fascia you’ll need to remove the knobs - these simply pull away and if not using a blunt plastic object can help pry away the knob without causing damage.
Now you will have access to the screws which hold the individual controls in place- undoing these screws will release them. The indicator lights usually can simply be pulled out.
Step 5 - Changing the Fascia
The fascia panel will be held in place with some screws - in the video there are 2 located underneath but other machines may vary. With the screws removed you can now detach the panel from the oven.
With the new fascia remove any plastic film which may be protecting the panel and attach it and fasten it in place with the screws.
Step 6 - Putting It Back Together
Time to put it back together - reconnect all of the controls, lamps and rewire it. With everything back in place now you can refit the top panel.
Once the top panel is secure and screwed in place you can gently lift the oven up and slide it back into place. If it had screws holding it in position don’t forget to insert and tighten the screws.
There you go, you have rejuvenated the look of your oven by replacing the fascia panel.
