How to Replace the Brushbar on a Dyson - DC25

Having a clogged up brushroll can affect the performance of your Dyson vacuum. Overtime the hair or debris collected from your floors can get tangled on the brush bar causing it to not rotate correctly or at all, therefore it’s important that it is replaced.

Safety First! Please ensure that you have disconnected the appliance from the mains before starting any repair.

The whole process of removing and replacing the brush bar is quite simple, to begin with need to remove the cleaner head from the Dyson body. To remove the unit from the body turn the vacuum on its front and then pull up the button on the release catch and push the cleaner head towards you.

With the cleaner head removed you can now move it to a open space to give you space you need to perform your repair.

Now to open up the cleaner head…to open it up you just need a coin, twist the end cap 90° and pull out the brushroll.

With the brush bar is out you’ll have a clear view if it’s clogged up. If you wanted to you can remove the hair or debris that has caught between the bristles, but we recommend if it’s badly damaged you’ll want to replace it.

The brush bar on the Dyson DC25 is motorised, so if doesn’t turn properly you may have a problem with the belt. You can see our video guide here if you need help replacing it. If the motor on the cleaner is defective, you will need to replace the complete cleaner head assembly, as the motor is not available separately.

So put put the new brush in, simply pop the brush bar in and twist the end cap back into place. Not forgetting to re-screw the three screws 90 degrees.

Finally, attach the cleaner head to the body by push locking it in position.
