Over time the soleplate and brush roll on your vacuum cleaner can become worn and need replacing. Carrying out such a repair needn't be difficult, as explained in this eSpares video.
Following our easy to follow step by step guide, you’ll soon have your Bissell vacuum repaired in no time and cleaning your home at its optimum best again.
This video shows an example on how to remove or replace the part on a typical machine, some models may be different but the procedure should be similar.
What You Will Need:
Step 1 - Safety Advice
Safety First! Please ensure that you have disconnected the appliance from the mains before starting any repair.
Step 2 - Removing Soleplate
To access the soleplate and the brushroll we need to flip the machine over onto its front, underneath we have the soleplate and this can be released by unscrewing the four screws. Once the screws have been removed you’ll have access to the brushroll.
Step 3 - Adding New Brushroll and Soleplate
Removing the brush roll couldn’t get any easier. Simply pop it out of the housing, release it from the belt, but making sure the belt stays on the motor spindle.
Once you've got the old brushroll off, it's simply a case of putting the new one back on and because the belt can be tight you're going to need to use a bit of force to get it back in. With the brush in the belt, give the brushroll a couple of turns just to fatten out the belt.
Now that we have the new brushbar in, we can move onto the soleplate. Grab the brand new soleplate, position it in place and simply screw it back on.
And there we have it! Brand new brushroll and soleplate fitted to your Bissell vacuum cleaner, without having to replace the complete cleaner. We hope that this has helped provide you with an easy to follow guide on how to replace a faulty or damaged brushroll and soleplate for your vacuum.
