Hi, I’m Helen from eSpares.
Not having a remote control for your TV, DVD player or SKY box can be really annoying. So if you’ve lost or broken your remote then it’s usually quite easy to find a replacement, you have a few options.
Ideally you want to go for a genuine replacement remote control, this will look identical and work exactly the same as your old remote. However, they do tend to be quite expensive.
So depending on your make and model, you may have the option of a non-genuine alternative, this will tend not to look too much like the original, but most of the functions will work the same way, these remotes are usually much more competitively priced.
Before you buy either and genuine replacement or a non-genuine alternative, you’ll need to have the detailed model information for your TV or DVD player handy, these can usually found on the data sticker on the back of the model.
Finally, there are universal remotes that can be programmed to operate any combination of audio or video appliance. These tend to vary in quality, price and ease of use, and in most cases we’d recommend you go for a genuine replacement.
Once you’ve got your replacement remote control, you can sit back and enjoy the entertainment.
